The Las Calaveras is an annual limited edition created to honor those who passed away in the previous year. Each release is distinguished by box and band artwork inspired by La Calavera Catrina, the iconic zinc etching by José Guadalupe Posada, reflecting the rich cultural symbolism of remembrance.

Six years after the line’s debut, the 2020 edition arrived at retailers in early July with a familiar yet refined blend. It features an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper enveloping Nicaraguan tobaccos in both the binder and filler, delivering the bold, full-bodied character fans expect from the series.

For 2020, Crowned Heads significantly reduced production, enhancing the release’s exclusivity. Whereas previous editions saw 1,700 boxes per size and 2,500 samplers produced, the 2020 run was limited to just 1,000 boxes per size and only 500 samplers—making it one of the rarest installments in the line’s history.
