Newman Cigar Co. and the 135th birthday of founder Julius Caeser “J.C.” Newman, Diamond Crown Julius Caeser honors the man who started it all. His portrait is featured on the cigar bands and packaging, while its name pays tribute to the unique story behind his middle name. When J.C. Newman immigrated to America in 1888, an immigration officer gave him the middle name “Caeser,” a slight misspelling of the name of the famed Roman emperor.
